There’s no doubt in my mind Zimmerman walks, and even a cursory glance will confirm his side of the story. How many Reginald Dennys are there going to be his time?
With the November election looming, there seems to be a lot more use of the term “right wing” by those who seem, by omission at least, to be “left wing.” So just what do all these terms being bandied about really mean?
If one was to use, say, a 12″ ruler and whatever object you have is 13″ you wouldn’t start over. Likewise, when measuring poundage on a 0-250 scale, if your object weighed 250.1 you wouldn’t say it was zero, would you? Of course not. Any sort of measurement system is meant to compare extremes.
On the extreme left, you have control. Absolutely positive control. And of course, that’s where the ‘isms’ reside: Communism, Socialism, Fascism, Nazi-ism, and for that matter, Sharia. All lemons that grew on the same tree. It is noteworthy that the Nazis under Hitler were at their core Socialists. Matter of fact, the term NAZI is an acronym meaning “National Socialism.”
On the extreme right, you have a complete and total absence of control, i.e. anarchy.
Both extremes are very very bad. Neither is workable over the long term.
That leads us the great center: A Constitutional Republic and not a democracy. Democracy has been (accurately) described as two wolves and a sheep deciding what’s for dinner.
Here’s a rather ominous warning letter written by Thomas Colton Ruthford, a former German citizen who survived the WW2 years:
Letter to the Editor
6/7/95 – Arlington,
During the past several months in the American press, the
Democrats have frequently denounced the Republicans as Nazis due
to their attempts to control runaway federal spending. How very
ironic. I remember the Nazis, after living under their rule. Let me
share a little about them and recall some of their exploits.
First of all, “Nazi” was gutter slang for the verb “to
nationalize”. The Bider-Meinhoff gang gave themselves this
moniker during their early struggles. The official title of the
Nazi Party was “The National Socialist Workers Party of Germany”.
Hitler and the Brownshirts advocated the nationalization of
education, health care, transportation, national resources,
manufacturing, distribution and law enforcement.
Hitler came to power by turning the working class, unemployed,
and academic elite against the conservative republic. After Des
Fuhrers election ceased being a political conspiracy and was
transformed into a fashionable social phenomenon, party
membership was especially popular with educators, bureaucrats,
and the press. Being a Nazi was politically correct. They called
themselves “The Children of the New Age of World Order” and
looked down their noses at everyone else. As Hitler accrued more
power, he referred to his critics as “The Dark Forces of Anarchy
and Hatred”. Anyone who questioned Nazi high-handedness in the
German press was branded a “Conservative Reactionary”. Joseph
Goebbels, minister of communications, proclaimed a “New World
The Nazi reign of terror began with false news reports on the
Jews, Bohemians and Gypsies who were said to be arming themselves
to overthrow the “New World Order” and Hitler demanded that all
good people register their guns so that they wouldn’t fall into
the hands of “terrorists and madmen”. Right wing fanatics of the
“Old Order” who protested firearms registration were arrested by
the S.S. and put in jail for “fomenting hatred against the
Government of the German people”.
Then the Reichstag (government building) was blown up and Hitler
ram- rodded an “Emergency Anti-Terrorist Act” through Parliament
that gave the Gestapo extraordinary powers. The leader then
declared that for the well-being of the German people, all
private firearms were to be confiscated by the Gestapo and the
Wermotten (federal law enforcement and military). German citizens
who refused to surrender their guns when the “jack-boots”
(Gestapo) came calling, were murdered in their homes. By the way,
the Gestapo were the federal marshals’ service of the Third
Reich. The S.W.A.T. team was invented and perfected by the
Gestapo to break into the homes of the enemies of the German
When the Policia Bewakken, or local police, refused to take away
guns from townsfolk, they themselves were disarmed and dragged
out into the street and shot to death by the S.A. and the S.S.
Those were Nazi versions of the B.A.T.F. and the F.B.I. When
several local ministers spoke out against these atrocities, they
were imprisoned and never seen again.
The Gestapo began to confiscate and seize the homes, businesses,
bank accounts, and personal belongings of wealthy conservative
citizes who had prospered in the old Republic. Pamphleteers who
urged revolt against the Nazis were shot on sight by national law
enforcement and the military. Gypsies and Jews were detained and
sent to labor camps. Mountain roads throughout central Europe
were closed to prevent the escape of fugitives into the
wilderness, and to prevent the movement and concealment of
partisan resistance fighters.
Public schools rewrote history and Hitler youth groups taught the
children to report their parents to their teachers for anti-Nazi
remarks. Such parents disappeared. Pagan animism became the state
religion of the Third Reich and Christians were widely condemned
as “right wing fanatics”.
Millions of books were burned first and then people. Millions of
them burned in huge ovens after they were first gassed to death.
Unmarried women were paid large sums of money to have babies out
of wedlock and then given medals for it. Evil was declared as
being good, and good was condemned as being evil. World Order was
coming and the German people were going to be the “peacekeepers”.
Yes, indeed, I remember the Nazis and they weren’t
Republicans, or “right wing”, or “patriots.” They
were Socialists. And they were monsters.
Bella was a very young Maltese, perhaps 7 weeks old when a neighbor asked us to watch her for an afternoon. Who can resist such a face!
We became fast friends, and she would not leave my side. There’s a reason they are called ‘man’s best friend.’ I’ve always loved dogs. Of course, I’m not a cat-guy. Found out well into my adult years I’m allergic to felines much to my wife’s dismay. Dogs are team players. Cats are in it for themselves. I digress.
Anywhichaways, less than 2 days after this photo was taken I got word that Bella had died, a very sad piece of news certainly.
Here’s what I know: She was purchased from a ‘breeder’ or perhaps more correctly, a ‘puppy mill.’ I’m no DVM, but apparently this was a result of being raised in an absolutely filthy environment. She contracted a protozoa -as did the rest of the litter – and like her siblings was not able to survive. Her new owner contacted the breeder whose response was, ‘well I can give you a Chihuahua.’ Talk about having no conscience! Our neighbor’s response? “Why would I want another dog from you?” Indeed.
The lesson here is don’t buy pets from someone selling them in a mall parking lot. At a minimum, have them checked by a vet first, and ask them what sort of care they have had. Double check. So far, they are out $450 for the puppy, and nearly that in expenses.
God, grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
Thank you also for the use of Air Force Two and the 70 Secret Service personnel who tagged along to be sure we were safe and cared for at all times. By the way, if you happen to be visiting the Costa del Sol , I highly recommend the Buenaventura Plaza restaurant in Marbella ; great lobster with rice and oysters! I’m ashamed to admit the lobsters we ate in Martha’s Vineyard were not quite as tasty, but what can you do if you’re not in Europe , you have to just grin and bear it?
Air Force Two (which costs $11,351 per hour to operate according to Government Accounting Office reports) only used 47,500 gallons of jet fuel for this trip and carbon emissions were a mere 1,031 tons of CO2.
These are only rough estimates, but they are close. That’s quite a carbon footprint as my good friend Al Gore would say, so we must ask the American citizens to drive smaller, more fuel efficient cars and drive less too, so we can lessen our combined
I know times are hard and millions of you are struggling to put food on the table and trying to make ends meet. So I do appreciate your sacrifices and do hope you
find work soon.
I was really exhausted after Barack took our family on a luxury vacation in Maine a few weeks ago. I just had to get away for a few days.
Michelle (Moochelle) Obama
P.S. Thank you as well for the $2 BILLION dollar trip to India from which we just returned!
P.SS. Thank you, too, for that vacation trip to Martha’s Vineyard; it was fabulous.
And thanks for that second smaller jet that took our dog Bo to Martha’s Vineyard so we and the children could have him with us while we were away from the White House for eleven days. After all, we couldn’t take him on Air Force One because he might pee on some wires or something.
P.SSS. Oh, I almost forgot to say thanks also for our two-week trip to Hawaii at Christmas. That 7,000 square foot house was great!
My speculation-o-tron is completely worn out on the whole Travon Martin case. I will begin by saying that I don’t have any ‘inside track’ information, and that at this point no one really ‘knows’ what happened. Not surprisingly, there seems to be a real lack of understanding of what the law really says regarding concealed carry. It should be noted that “Stand Your Ground” isn’t a stand alone law.
CHL in Florida is covered by the Jack Hagler Self-defense Act (Section 790.06, Florida Statutes).
Here are a few key points:
Florida law justifies use of deadly force when you are:
Trying to protect yourself or another person from death or serious bodily harm;
The amount of force that you use to defend yourself must not be excessive under the circumstances.
It is clear, however, that the law protects people who keep their tempers under control and use deadly force only as a last resort.
Enter Florida’s Immunity Statute:
The law: Statute 776.032 Immunity from criminal prosecution and civil action for justifiable use of force.—
(1) A person who uses force as permitted in s. 776.012, s. 776.013, or s. 776.031 is justified in using such force and is immune from criminal prosecution and civil action for the use of such force, unless the person against whom force was used is a law enforcement officer, as defined in s. 943.10(14), who was acting in the performance of his or her official duties and the officer identified himself or herself in accordance with any applicable law or the person using force knew or reasonably should have known that the person was a law enforcement officer. As used in this subsection, the term “criminal prosecution” includes arresting, detaining in custody, and charging or prosecuting the defendant.
Bottom line? Legal precidents have indeed be set which makes the following a defense to prosecution-> bring attacked about the head, throat, or spinal chord. <– So, did TM beat GZ (as one witness has allegedly reported) to the point where GZ’s nose was broken and his head bashed against the concrete? Once you are attacked and you are aware of the attackers intent on doing you more physical harm, once you have already sustained a potentially dangerous head wound . . you are completely justified in shooting in self defense. And that certainly fits the definition of ‘serious bodily harm’ by most reasonable people.
A pretty disgusting bit of racism:
And, of course what day would be complete without a little misogyny:
Here’s why Jackson wants “Stand Your Ground” repealed——>
There is a provision in Florida’s SYG law that basically says: If a civil action is brought and the court finds the defendant to be immune based on the parameters of the law, the defendant will be awarded all costs of defense.
In other words, he can’t file nuisance lawsuits designed to shake his ‘enemies’ down without exposing himself to financial liability.
